2005 MFA PRESIDENT’S CITATION
Grace Terpstra
"Each
year the MFA President has the opportunity to recognize someone who has
made a unique and great contribution to MFA. This year I have the
distinct pleasure to present the MFA President’s Citation to someone
who has given of their time and their talents tirelessly, especially in
helping their fellow Mississippians following the unprecedented
destruction from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
You may not know
our honoree because she has been away from home for a long time. A
native of West Point in Clay County and a graduate of Mississippi State
University, she now calls Washington, DC her home. After Hurricane
Katrina struck her beloved home state, she volunteered her invaluable
services and many, many hours to represent our forestry community in
Congress. She served all of us as a professional lobbyist and strategic
advisor to our collective efforts to provide Mississippi’s timberland
owners with an unprecedented measure of disaster relief. Grace Terpstra
will always be a treasured friend of Mississippi’s forestry community."
